Open Water Diver
Discover the freedom of diving with the SSI Open Water Diver course with Maldivers! Gain essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to plan and conduct your own dives. Upon completion, you’ll be able to enjoy independent diving with a buddy, free from supervision.
Our course includes immersive confined water (lagoon) dives where you’ll master dive skills, along with self-study from our comprehensive manual or online reading materials to gain necessary knowledge. You’ll then apply what you’ve learned during open water (ocean) dives. With 5 confined water dives, 5 knowledge development chapters, and 4 open water dives, you’ll be fully prepared for the greatest adventure of your life!

What are my requirements?
You need to be in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water. To join the Open Water Dive course, you need to be older than 14 years. 10 to 14 year olds can take part in the Junior Open Water Diver Course.
How long will it take?
The course is performance based. The duration depends on how comfortable you are with diving and you proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you. Usually, it can be done completed in 4-5 days.
Where can I go from there?
You can continue your diving adventure by taking the Advanced Adventurer course so that you can pick up some more skills and knowledge to get more out of diving. If you have some specific area of interest in diving that you would like to explore you can do a Specialty Diver Course in that field.
