Maldivers (literally combining the words "Maldivian, Divers") was a diving club started in the early 90's by a group of enthusiasts of the sea. This group of youth included divers, snorkelers and environmentalists and naturalists who had a love for the sea and the environment. Maldivers club started carrying out awareness and educational programs for the youth and the society as a whole; about the fragile environment and the delicate flora and fauna, on which our lives were and is very much dependant upon here in the Maldives. We also helped the Maldivian government in making laws and regulations regarding diving in the Maldives, and also assisted environmental and underwater researchers.

The initial members of the Maldivers diving club were; Athif Jameel , Ahmed Nazim , Hussein Shareef , Mohamed Hashim , Mohamed Fayaz , Mohamed Haleem and Musthaq Hussein.

With over thirty years of experience, (which is from the beginning of diving in the Maldives) Musthaq Hussein established the Maldivers Diving Centre in the year 2000. The dive centre offered PADI certified dive courses to everyone.

Maldivers Diving Centre works with the policy that anybody who comes to dive, with us, shall be treated as a friend rather than just a customer.

We at Maldivers Diving Centre have, and are changing lives for the better, of a lot of the local population, including expatriate workers and tourists. Being able to dive gives the divers a chance to be able to see first hand, the flora and fauna that make up the delicate environment, which we have to protect. It is the hope and an aim of Maldivers Diving Centre to create greater awareness on environmental issues, especially related to the Maldives islands, amongst the population.

We have been an active participant in the PADI Project Aware program since the beginning of the new millennium. This event is also a social gathering as well as an awareness and environmental clean up program, of the active divers trained with us, over the years.


It is also one of our aims to make sure there is a surplus of capable and trained youth to support the dive tourism industry.

After five years of being in operation, Maldivers Diving Centre have upgraded to a Gold Palm of the PADI International Resort Association. This is in order to provide an even more quality service to our divers.
