Assistant Instructor gives you an edge before going to the Instructor Development Course (IDC). It is the first step towards becoming an Instructor. During the course you learn such things as the PADI system of diver education, how to give knowledge development presentations and how to teach in the confined water and the open water and many other things.
What can PADI Assistant Instructors do?
- Teach academic presentations under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
- Evaluate Open Water Diver surface skills under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
- Teach the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course Teach Project AWARE Specialty courses
- Conduct PADI Discover Scuba experiences
- Teach Emergency First Response after successful completion of an Emergency First Response Instructor course
- Teach the Digital Underwater Photography Specialty Course after successful completion of the Specialty Instructor Course
What are my requirements?
- PADI Divemaster rating (or qualifying certification from another organization)
- Proof of completion of a sanctioned CPR and first aid program within the past 24 months.
- At least 18 years old
- Have 60 logged dives, including night, deep, and navigation dives
- Have been a certified diver for at least 6 months
How long will it take?
- The course can vary from as little as three days to more than two weeks
Where can I go from there?
You can attend to an Instructor Development Courses (IDC) Open Water Scuba Instructor section and after successful completion of the Instructor Exam (IE) become a PADI Instructor.
As mentioned above you can certify as an Emergency First Response Instructor after completing the Emergency First Response Instructor course and also as a Digital Underwater Photography Specialty Instructor after doing the Specialty Instructor training. |
